Maggie has been such a joy in our family. She is content and sweet, and I have been amazed at how much we love our new addition.
Maggie takes after her brother Matthew and is growing by leaps and bounds. At her two month check-up she was in the 75th percentile for weight (11 pounds 11 ounces) and the 50th percentile for height and head size. She sleeps easily through the night and when I hear new moms and dads complain about their lack of sleep, I have a hard time relating (both Matt and Maggie were great sleepers within the first couple of weeks).
Maggie is smiling a lot, and is at that adorable stage when the smile seems to take up her whole body. She loves to coo and it really seems like she is talking. Just yesterday, she made a sound like a laugh, so I think that developmental milestone is getting close.
My dad, my brother Matt, and my sister Ann came from Oregon for a visit, so we decided to bless Maggie at our house. She was blessed on July 29th, 2008 by Brian, my dad and Brian's dad and a member of our bishopric, McKay Anderson. It was a beautiful blessing that reminded me of the purity and beauty of this little soul.

Hey you guys! Looks like you are doing great! I am so glad that you finally updated your blog, I have been watching:) Do you love the more space you have? Was everything the way you wanted it in the apartment? I hope so! We really miss having you as neighbors, you guys were so wonderful! Take care, Laura
That's a lovely shot of you and your little girl. How blessed you are! Especially in the sleep department. :)
Thank you so much for your comment on my blog. I guess I hadn't realized you'd given birth to Maggie at home, even though I read the post your husband put up when she was born. It sounds like your GBS research lines up pretty well with the research I've been doing on the subject. I think we've pretty much decided to have the baby in the hospital, but with a doula attending (I wouldn't do it otherwise!). I'll meet her on Wednesday, so baby better not come before then! I am so sad to let go my vision of birthing this baby at home, especially since I know from Katy's birth how calm and intimate homebirth is compared to the hospital, but like you mentioned in your comment, a good birth can happen in a number of settings--we just have to make the most of whatever circumstances we're given. So I'm putting my mental energy into planning a beautiful hospital birth. Anyway, thank you so much for your empathy. It really means a lot to me.
I just found your blog today, call me slow or whatnot. Your children are beautiful! I love the name Maggie. It was one I thought about for one of our girls.
Looking forward to keeping up with you...
Hey Emilie,
I just found you from facebook--it's so great to be back in touch! I have a Matthew too--it's a great name! Are you in Salt Lake?
